West Houston Medical Center Comes in at No. 6 for Top Large Companies to Work for in Houston

West Houston Medical Center (WHMC) was announced one of Houston’s Top 100 Workplaces by the Houston Chronicle for the second year in a row.  The Houston Chronicle’s Top 100 Workplaces special section features leading employers in the Houston area and what makes these companies so outstanding.  Companies are measured on several qualities such as company leadership, career opportunities, communication, workplace flexibility, compensation and benefits.  More than 72,500 Houston-area employees submitted their opinions for this year’s Top Workplaces section and Pennsylvania-based research firm Workplace Dynamics tallied the results to determine the winners.

Not only did WHMC make the top 100 list, but the hospital was also recognized as one of the top ten workplaces in the large company division, placing WHMC at number 6.  In 2011, WHMC was ranked number 9 in the same category.

Also, this year 15 special awards were given to companies who scored highly in specific categories.  WHMC was selected for the Communications award and a Question & Answer section with CEO Todd Caliva was featured in the Top Workplaces special section.  “Effective communication is vital to a patient-first mentality. I want all of our employees to be aware of what is going on, to understand what our goals are and how we are doing as a company, and what’s important to us,” says Caliva.
