It is the fourth consecutive year HCA has achieved this distinction.

West Houston Medical Center (WHMC) was named one of the nation’s Top Performers on Key Quality Measures by The Joint Commission, the leading accreditor of health care organizations in America. WHMC was recognized by The Joint Commission for exemplary performance in using evidence-based clinical processes that are shown to improve care for certain conditions, including heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, surgical care, children’s asthma, stroke and venous thromboembolism, as well as inpatient psychiatric services.

Chad Christianson joins WHMC as Chief Operating Officer

West Houston Medical Center’s (WHMC) Chief Executive Officer, Todd Caliva, announced that Chad Christianson has been named the facility’s Chief Operating Officer. Christianson was previously the Associate Chief Operating Officer at WHMC and has held a variety of healthcare leadership positions since 2005.

Toni Cotton joins WHMC as Chief Nursing Officer

West Houston Medical Center's (WHMC) Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Todd Caliva, announced that Toni Cotton, MS, BSN, has been promoted to the hospital’s Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) where she will be responsible for all inpatient nursing departments and will directly oversee the Quality Department. Cotton comes to West Houston Medical Center from HCA affiliated Kingwood Medical Center where she served as associate CNO.

Summer Safety at HealthOne

On June 13th, HealthOne 24 Hour Emergency Care | West Campus hosted a morning of summer safety education for children from Kids R Kids. Children ages 4-6 years old went through different stations to learn about: treating cuts/scrapes, sunscreen use, hydration importance, and protective gear use.

Houston, TX., September 15, 2011—West Houston Medical Center (WHMC) announces being named one of the top performers in using evidence-based care processes to improve patient outcomes by The Joint Commission. WHMC is one of 405 organizations identified as attaining and sustaining excellence in accountability measure performance for the full year of 2010. These recognized facilities represent approximately 14 percent of Joint Commission-accredited hospitals and critical access hospitals that report core measure performance data.

The Woman’s Hospital of Texas to Affiliate with West Houston Medical Center

HCA Gulf Coast Division announced today that West Houston Medical Center (WHMC) and The Woman’s Hospital of Texas (TWHT) are forming an affiliation that will provide women in West Houston convenient access to TWHT physicians specializing in high risk pregnancy. The affiliation will be known as The Woman’s Hospital of Texas at West Houston and launches in January 2011.

It is only a matter of minutes before an oxygen-starved muscle begins to deteriorate. That is why it is imperative for someone experiencing a heart attack to get immediate medical intervention. Minutes are Muscle when it comes to heart attack because the heart is being deprived of the oxygen it needs to function. The faster oxygen supply is restored to the heart, the less damage the heart will suffer. West Houston Medical Center (WHMC) is working to educate the community on the appropriate steps to take when a heart attack is suspected.
